Per 100 meters59.80
Per 100 yards54.68

Classical model: Uses published course factors plus a stroke-specific turn adjustment for sprint events.

Use this as a planning estimate. Meet entries and qualifying decisions should follow the conversion policy of the relevant governing body.

Quick reference

Three pool courses, one clear result

SCY25 yards

Common in U.S. school and college swimming.

SCM25 meters

Short course with metric race distances.

LCM50 meters

Olympic pool length with fewer turns.

How it works

A useful estimate without hiding the assumptions

The classical model applies commonly published course factors and a stroke-sensitive adjustment for sprint turns. The optional wall-adjusted model estimates free-water speed and changes the number of wall opportunities.

Swim time conversion FAQ

How accurate is a swim time conversion?+

A conversion is a useful estimate, not a prediction. Starts, turns, underwater distance, stroke, fatigue, and the swimmer’s own strengths can move the real result away from a formula.

What do SCY, SCM, and LCM mean?+

SCY is a 25-yard pool, SCM is a 25-meter pool, and LCM is a 50-meter pool. LCM races have fewer turns than short-course races.

Can I use this result as an official qualifying time?+

No. Use the rules and official conversion tables published by the meet organizer or governing body for entries and qualification.

Why can the wall-adjusted estimate differ?+

It models the number of walls in each pool and applies a stroke-sensitive wall estimate. Strong turn and underwater swimmers may see a larger real short-course advantage.
