Swim Pace Calculator
Turn a total swim time into practical 25, 50, 100, and 200 pace targets for training or race review.
Distance and total time
Pace is calculated evenly across the full distance.
Pace breakdown
Swim pace chart per 100 meters or yards
Choose a target pace per 100 in the first column. The remaining columns show matching 25, 50, 200, and 400 split times. Use one unit consistently: the same chart works for meters or yards.

How to calculate swimming pace
Pace from a total swim time
Divide the total time by the race distance, then multiply by the checkpoint distance. A 5:20 swim over 400 meters is 1:20 per 100, 40 seconds per 50, and 20 seconds per 25.
Meters and yards
A swimming pace calculator should keep the unit consistent. Use meters for an SCM or LCM swim and yards for an SCY swim. To compare courses, use the swim time converter before calculating pace.
Training pace versus race pace
The calculator reports an even mathematical pace. Training sets may include rest, while race splits vary because the first length includes a start and later lengths include turns.
Short course and long course
Pool length changes the number of walls and can change achievable pace. Read the short course to long course conversion guide before comparing race results.
